Adding our video to my webpage.

I have finally added my groups music video to my webpage:

24.01.2011; Survey Creation.

In order to collect information so I am able to evaluate the effectiveness of my two ancillary texts and the groups music video, I have decided to use surveymonkey to collect both quantitative (numerical) and qualitative (descriptive) data. This enables me to quickly obtain audience feedback as a part of my coursework evaluation. I have another two to create, for my Digipack and Webpage evaluation, but I have only managed to create one for the music video - I shall add the others.

Website Completion.

Website updates.

I used my company's Logo as stated earlier and now that my website has come together a lot more, I am more confident in its appearance. At first, as stated previously, I had a massive struggle with iweb in the beginning of the productions of a homepage, however, I managed to overcome such things.
This logo appears on my Digipak and on my Website:



I have also decided on a very simple colour scheme that works quite effectively; night-vision green, edited in my pictures with Final Cut (As shown in a previous post),white for text and black for the background, which makes the other two stand out more. I feel this colour scheme is complimentary of itself and the website.

We finally managed to get our pictures of Jimmy and I chose this one as it is a full-body shot and really relays a 'bad boy' attitude, which I feel Professor Green gives over to in his official Jungle music video, it also relates quite well to this genre of music.












For a little while, I was settled on a particularly fancy logo for Professor Green's name, due to its likeness with the artists tattoo, however, I decided that using such a different font from everything else (On my Digipak and my Website) would ruin the iconography and so, stuck to Tahoma. Professor Green's logo is incredibly simple:

Digipack Completion.

My Digipack is near completion, I have only got to get stills from the video of my front cover which involves the opposing gangs facing one another.

I may consider changing the type of font (Bold Tahoma) but I intend to keep it in block writing.

After school today I've decided to come back and make progress on both my website and my digipack. Due to the fact I find one of the programmes we use in class incredibly frustrating, I decided to use something I was more comfortable with; Final Cut Express. For my Digipack I wanted to have each photo in night-vision, though I can edit with Final Cut I'm not accustomed to adding such effects. After a few set-backs, and many trials and errors, I have finally found out how to do this;

By fiddling with the colours, as shown in the print screens above, this was the outcome of the photos I intend to use for my Digipack.

Professor Green's Logo:

I created a logo to suit Professor Green as an artist and to show on my Website and Digipack, hopefully allowing the audience to recognise the artist by that alone (as many recognise the artist by his tattoo).

I created this logo, specifically looking for a font that was reminiscent of the tattoo Professor Green has on his neck and this is what I found. Whilst it isn't exactly the same it has a likeness to the logo and I am pleased with it. However, if I find there is a difficulty in putting it to my website and Digipack as I feel it interferes with my idea of colour scheme. I may not use it.

Website update: Banners.

I don't really feel as though I have progressed from my last post about the website some time ago, because all of my energy went onto shooting the video - which is now complete.
A while ago I created two banners and here are the both of them;

I believe that the logo for this is not quite clear enough due to the colour and the two types of green aren't aesthetically appealing.

I prefer this banner, despite its lack of logo and will stretch it to size when I put it into my website. I prefer it due to the fact it is neater than the one above and is only one picture - its simplicity appeals to me.

Both of these banners are serving as space-fillers until I can get a hold of the pictures of Jimmy (who is our Professor Green) and put a picture of him in their place - that way I can avoid the drastic editing (which I was required to do when using pictures of the real Professor Green). Here is my space-filler and hopefully, how my banner will look once I have sorted out the pictures we took of Jimmy.

Thursday we finished the final part of our filming and I'm quite relieved that we managed it because the group can now focus on editing - which will be a lot easier than filming as we only have ourselves to worry about. Whilst filming we encountered a few problems; one of our actors could not turn up but Denzie replaced this actor with his cousin and also helped Jimmy (Professor Green) with learning the lines and restoring confidence. We overcame each difficulty we were faced with sufficiently and I am confident that the quality of our film will be good.
Whilst filming, we also took pictures of Jimmy and the others as a whole group, which could also be used on our Websites and Digipacks. I took photos of the scene whilst Jemma and Denzi filmed, and Joe acted his part (Maverick). Here they are;

After school, hopefully we'll be filming the final bits of our video. The major pieces we have filmed are edited and we're just waiting on the final parts.

It turned out that, due to the weather, worries about the equipment, and lack of attendance, we could not film, however we made use of our time with Jemma's camera and took pictures that we all planned to use for our Digipacks and Websites. At least it wasn't all lost.Here are the photos that were taken during this time;

Peer feedback.

Despite being absent, from my groups blog I've learnt that we were given feedback by other members of our class last Wednesday 5th January. These are the comments that were made;

'Long Shot- too lengthy (untitled 1-10-1)'

'Include Joe in a bit'
'Good feel to piece'
'Long black out at 46 seconds (1-11-1)'
'Promoting violence and strange product placement'

Due to the fact our music video is not completed yet, most of the queries are easily answered (such as the black-out, including Joe more frequently and the long-shot). We haven't added all our music video and hopefully, taking the comments on-board our video will solve all these problems. I feel, despite this, that our video suits the song we have chosen and even, the genre attached to it. Our video speaks a hard life faced by some and this is generally a topic tackled by rappers.
